We Become What We Consume
The mindless media narrative is but a well-designed vehicle to distract us from the true meaning of life. However, it is our collective preoccupation with it that has allowed it to become a powerhouse of perception, regardless of whether its storylines are accurate—or not.
If we have become obsessed with, or emotionally charged by, what we see on our television screens, social feeds and in printed material at the supermarket checkout, it is time to reevaluate what we have willingly taken on as truths.
Our deep belief in stories fed to us, labelled as “entertainment” or “news”, really means we are moving further away from the real truth, allowing others to determine our state-of-mind and, ultimately, our life. What if we have built our lives on fiction, rather than fact?
We become what we consume.
What is the real truth? No media outlet, news anchor or influencer holds this key. The truth resides in that feeling that comes when we switch off the television, shut down the social media onslaught and tune out from the noise. The truth can only ever be found within you.
We are powerful beyond measure, yet it is drowned out, diluted, disengaged and taken away when we allow others to decide our truth for us.
What would we be without our well-trodden fixations with “global warming” or “climate change”. What would we be doing if we weren’t focused on a well-branded “pandemic”? Who would we become without the politics or politicians who set our social and economic boundaries? What does it mean if everything we have taken on as a cold hard fact, is actually a cold hard untruth? What then? We would be left with our own thoughts, feelings and introspections to decide what is indeed truth for our own selves.
We become what we consume.
Once we awaken to the reality of our own reality, we will be able to celebrate a freedom that many of us have never experienced before. To get to this place, we must learn to ask the question: What is the truth?
